Description
Fire Pump Code Compliance Additional questions: Question 1. On the new 8" water lateral, is the intention to bury a valve at the tapping sleeve in the "on" position, or to have no valve until the P.I.V.? Answer 1: The intent was that new line would be valved at new PIV. All valves on fire laterals have to be accessible and monitored by fire alarm. Question 2. On the 6" existing water lateral, is the intention to bury the existing valve in the "closed" position, or to remove everything back to the 16" main? Answer 2. The intent on existing is that it would be removed and capped back at main. Question 3. Do you have a written phasing plan? I cannot find one on the drawings. I can find the work associated with Phase 1, 2 (partial), 3, 5 and 6. But cannot find what is in phase 2(partial) and 4. Can you provide direction? Answer 3: Refer to suggested phasing narrative on sheet FP001. Contractor is to verify all phasing and any changes with VA. Question 4. There is a note on the drawings that state no Med Air shutdowns will be allowed. Is this correct? How can you remove and relocated the required Med Air without a shutdown? I assume the re-certification of the med air system after a shutdown will be required and will be the contractors' responsibility? Please advise. Answer 4: Med Gas Piping on sheet P100: 1-1/2" MA is line to SCI building (which is not active? - VA to verify) so it should not require shutdown. 2" OX is for emergency backup connection and again should not require any shutdown. The intent of the MA dryer was to support from ceiling during construction of new mezzanine and then support on new mezzanine when complete. Again, intent was to avoid shut downs. That being said if contractor feels shutdown will be necessary the contractor shall cover all re-certification of systems and shall coordinate and qualify this requirement with VA in bid.
