Description
MCH AERIAL DEPLOYMENT PROJECT 2011 IN APPROXIMATELY 15 DAY's, THE SOLICITATION FOR THIS SERVICE PROJECT WILL BE AVAILABLE TO VIEW AND PRINT. BACKGROUND The 2007 Castle Rock Fire burned approximately 48,000 acres of Sawtooth National Forest and Twin Falls District-BLM public lands including the southern and western edges of the Bald Mountain ski area. The wildfire left hundreds of thousands of fire-weakened Douglas-fir within the fire perimeter. These stressed trees have become the perfect host for Douglas-fir bark beetles. Healthy Douglas-fir in and near the Bald Mountain Ski Area are now in jeopardy of becoming infested by beetles because of their susceptibility and proximity to exploding populations of beetles emerging from fire-stressed Douglas-fir. In 2010, to protect large diameter Douglas-fir trees from Douglas-fir beetle, Bald Mountain Ski Area was treated with the Douglas-fir beetle anti-aggregate 3-methyl-2-cyclohexene-1-one (MCH) flakes. The primary objective of this project is to continue protection of large diameter Douglas-fir (DF) trees from Douglas-fir beetle attack by evenly distributing plastic flakes laminated with MCH across the treatment area to prevent arriving beetles from colonizing DF host trees. SCOPE OF WORK The work under this contract consists of the deployment of MCH flakes evenly across the designated treatment area. This includes labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, clean-up, rehabilitation, and incidentals to complete all facets of the contract. The entire area to be treated is 1,500 acres plus or minus 15%. Work must be accomplished between the dates of May 24 and June 17, 2011 subject to weather or other circumstances beyond the Contractor's control. LOCATIONS The lands to be treated within the project area are in mountainous terrain with elevation ranging from 5,500 ft. to 9,200 ft. The treatment unit is 1,500 ±15% acres on and around the Bald Mountain Ski Area near Ketchum, Idaho. CONTACT KATHY MATTHEWS, (208) 373-4239 FOR MORE INFORMATION. CONTRACT TIME WILL BE 3 calendar days with an estimated start date of 05/24/2011 through 06/24/2011. NAICS Code: 115310 Size Standard: $7.0. This proposed procurement is a TOTAL SMALL BUSINESS set aside.
