- Description
- Announcement of Opportunity No. N310386 Gemini High-Resolution Optical Spectrograph (GHOS) Conceptual Design Studies The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc. (AURA), acting as operator of the Gemini Observatory (Gemini), intends to release a request for proposals (RFP) to conduct competing conceptual design studies for a Gemini High-resolution Optical Spectrograph (GHOS). These conceptual design study contracts will be the first phase of a program to design, build and commission this instrument at Gemini. This instrument is expected to provide high resolution spectroscopy, R~40,000, with simultaneous coverage from ~400 to 1,100nm, although these requirements may be modified or expanded in the actual RFP and are only meant to give a general idea of the desired capabilities for the instrument. Please do not rely on the requirements stated in this announcement in performing any work. If you wish to receive the request for proposal for the conceptual design studies please send an email requesting the RFP to Andrew Flach, Gemini Procurement Manager, aflach@gemini.edu by no later than 25 April 2011. The subject line of this email should include "Request for RFP No. N310386." In the body of the email, please give the name of your institution or company and the contact information (name, email, street address, and telephone) for the person who will serve as your single point of contact for this RFP. When the RFP is released, a link to the RFP will be emailed to the designated single points of contact. Interested teams should not begin work on their proposals until they have received the actual request for proposal document, which contains specific instructions regarding the content and format of proposals.
