- Description
- The Government is interested in obtaining information regarding a Micro-CT Machine used to study micro and nano-scale materials to include: metals, ceramics, biomaterials, and concrete materials. The Government is interested in any vendor that can furnish and deliver the system with the following minimum specifications: a) An X-ray source capable of emitting energy in the range of 40-130kV is required for imaging materials of different attenuations. b) The filter must be accessible to change by users, and also be able to accommodate aluminum and brass filters between 0.25 - 2 mm in thickness. c) A minimum of 100 mm of vertical travel is required for objects placed inside CT machine with at least 2 microns of accuracy. d) Rotation of specimen during scanning must not be limited and accuracy is required down to a minimum of 0.1 degree increments. e) The scanning space for an object in one scan is required to be 80 mm in diameter and 60 mm in length. f) The machine is required to be capable of scanning up to 140 mm in diameter and 140mm in length. g) The CT machine is required to resolve microstructural details down to 4 microns. h) The machine is required to be pre-wired for the in-situ material testing stages capable of performing compression and tension experiments up to loads of 440N at ambient and subzero temperatures. i) Radiation safety of the machine shall require that less than 1 uSv/h is emitted from any location on the machine surface. j) The X-ray detector is required to have at least 11.2 x 11.2 cm of X-ray sensitive area for data capturing. k) Lead glass protection of fiber-optic sensors is required. l) Ability to do 2D and 3D imaging. m) System must be a tabletop machine. n) Unlimited site license of reconstruction software with free updates for the life of the system. o) The system must be capable of performing spiral scanning to eliminate ring artifacts on dense materials by simultaneously rotating samples while moving the sample stage to create a helical scan path. p) An integrated micro-positioning stage for the highest resolution possible This Sources Sought is for information and planning purposes only, and does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP). This Market Survey is not to be construed as a commitment by the U. S. Government. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published.
