Description

The Navy Clothing & Textile Research Facility is seeking sources of 100% cotton fabrics for potential use in swimmer ™s trunks for the US Navy. Fabric should be equal to or better than the performance characteristics stated for the fabric currently used in MIL-DTL -29112D Trunks, Swimmers dated 27 April 2000. Note: Submissions of improved fabrics is limited to the fiber content specified. Desired characteristics: Available in Khaki 3729 shade or ability to be produced in khaki color Fabric should be static resistant without chemical treatment or finishes Fabric construction is not limited to 3/1 twill construction Fabric should be available for small lot production of swim trunks for the Navy Standard sample of current fabric is available upon request. This Sources Sought Notice is subject to the Berry Amendment, 10 USC 2533a. Firms who believe they have product(s) capable of meeting the above requirements are requested to provide literature, samples, brochures, place of manufacture and other relevant information. Submitted information will not be returned. Responses shall be submitted no later than 15 April 2011 to Navy Clothing & Textile Research Facility, Attn: D. Peppenelli, Kansas Street, Natick, MA 01760, or submitted via email to dpeppenelli@nctrf.natick.army.mil. This is not a request for proposal or quotation. No solicitation document exists. This is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to procure these items, nor does the US Navy intend to award on the basis of the Sources Sought Notice or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect cost or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this request for information and Government use of such information.
