Description
The Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL) seeks to obtain market research information from sources capable of fully satisfying the requirement for commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hybrid diesel-electric all-terrain vehicles. This market research is for informational purposes only and should not be construed as a commitment of any kind. MCWL is interested in identifying vendors who are capable of providing hybrid diesel-electric all-terrain vehicles. Such vehicles have the potential to be used in Combat Support Service Areas (CSSA)/with dismounted infantry patrols during future experimentation. The goal is to experiment with a system that can provide the capability to support small Marine units by lightening the carried load during missions and to assist in logistics resupply. Guidelines for hybrid diesel-electric all-terrain vehicles include: Series or parallel hybrid diesel-electric drive train capable of running on JP-8 fuel At least 20 horsepower Automatic transmission All-wheel drive Fully independent suspension with no less than six inches of wheel travel and no less than ten inches of ground clearance Less than 2,000 lbs system weight At least 1,000 lbs payload capability At least 30 miles per hour top speed Integrated roll-over protective cage Indicators to include: brake/backup lights, fuel gauge, gear indicator, speedometer, and odometer Capability to seat at least two persons Sources capable of fully satisfying the above requirements should submit to the Government an informational document describing their vehicles in relation to the guidelines listed above. This document shall be no more than ten (10) pages in adobe acrobat format. This sources sought is the initiation of market research under Part 10 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and is not a Request for Proposals (RFP). No solicitation document exists at this time. Issuance of this notice does not constitute any obligation on the part of the Government to procure these items or to issue a solicitation. In addition, the Government is under no obligation to pay for information submitted in response to this Notice, and responses to this notice cannot be accepted as offers. Any information that the vendor considers proprietary should be clearly marked as such. Responses to this Notice that indicate that the information therein is proprietary or represents confidential business information will be received and held in confidence for U.S. Government use only.
