Description

Solicitation Number: Notice Type: Notice of Intent to Sole Source Based on FAR Part 6.302-2 "Unusual and Compelling Urgency" The Department of Veterans' Affairs VISN 9 Network Contracting Activity (NCA) awarded a sole source procurement to the Carefusion Solutions, LLC to provide Pyxis ® Medical Stations at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center located at 3400 Lebanon Pike, Murfreesboro, TN 37129 on April 1, 2011. This award of this sole source contract was made to Carefusion Solutions, LLC located at 3750 Torrey View Court, San Diego, CA 92130-2635. The Pyxis ® system is essential to the proper distribution of medication to veterans at the Nashville and Murfreesboro VAMC and associated outpatient clinics. The Pyxis ® system is the proprietary property of Carefusion Solutions, LLC and is currently the only system known to be compatible with currently installed Pandora ® system utilized by Nursing and Pharmacy Services. The period of performance will be from April 1, 2011 to September 30, 2011. A solicitation/synopsis will not be issued as this is an urgent need, in accordance with FAR Part 6.302-2. This is a six month obligation to bridge the gap between April 1, 2011 and September 30, 2011so as not to disrupt patient care prior to a solicitation/synopsis being posted on eBuy for one base year and four option years. This requirement satisfies an urgent need as the Pyxis ® medical stations are necessary for distribution of medication to veterans and any disruption in service would adversely affect direct patient care. This award is for a limited six month period from April 1, 2011 to September 30, 2011 and will be awarded competitively, through GSA/FAA, at the beginning of fiscal year 2012, beginning on October 1, 2011. The competitively awarded contract will be for one base year and four options, subject to the availability of funds. The statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition is implemented by FAR 6.302-2 (only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements). A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract is solely within the discretion of the Government. This synopsis neither constitutes a Request for Proposal, nor does it restrict the Government to a particular acquisition approach. This is limited source procurement. The NAICS code for this procurement will be 423450 (Medical Dental Hospital Equipment and Supplies) Size standard 100 personnel. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes.
