The Government is interested in learning what UV lasers are available in the commercial market place that meet the below specifications; this is NOT a development effort. The laser is intended as a photocathode drive laser for use with the superconducting radio frequency electron guns currently being developed by NPS. The MINIMUM required specifications are: UV laser Commercially available Wavelength of 266 nanometers or less Output energy of 5 microjoules per pulse in the UV o5 millijoules per pulse or higher is preferred Output pulse energy should be stable to +/- 5% or less Pulse width of 50 picoseconds or less Capability to operate in either single-shot mode, or at a Pulse Repetition Frequency (PRF) of 10 Hz. oAbility to operate at higher PRFs, up to 60 Hz, is preferred Capable of synchronization to an external radio frequency (RF) signal in the 350 MHz-700 MHz range, so that the timing of the laser with respect to the RF waveform can be controlled to a tolerance of 20 ps or better. Sufficiently stable, robust, and user-friendly to enable operation by scientists who are knowledgeable of lasers, but are not laser specialists. Ability to remotely interface with, diagnose, and/or control the laser, for example through GPIB, EPICS, LabView, or internet protocol, is preferred but not required. The laser and any auxiliary equipment must fit within a volume which is 5 feet wide, 12 feet long, and 8 feet tall. There are no specific weight requirements or restrictions.
