SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS 4/14/2011 Hill AFB, AMXG/EN is currently applying for approval of a foreign comparative testing program. This announcement is for sources sought for companies that manufacture and supply thru skin match drilling systems that meet the following requirements: REQUIREMENTS: Pilot Hole Locating System and Through Skin and Structure Sensor: A portable hand held drill position system designed to quickly and accurately detect and locate the position of open fastener holes in non ferrous airframe structures, i.e. any combination of aluminum, carbon composite or titanium, through the outside surface of a new skin or component. This system should consist of the sensor(s), processor electronics, operator interface, pilot drill bush locating guide, and vacuum operated pneumatic surface holding device to hold the tooling and drill bush guide normal to the structure. The sensor should locate the pilot hole +.003" in the existing hole through structure up to 4" thick. The system must be battery powered capable of running the system for up to 24 hours on a single charge and use shop air between 60 and 120 PSI for the pneumatically operated vacuum. The system must be capable of withstanding reasonable use in the rugged work environment with no adverse effect sensing through any combination of aluminum, carbon composite or titanium structures. Potential offerors may identify their interest and capability and shall submit their interest by mail or email no later than 10 June 2011 to Tom Whitney 309th AMXG/EN, 5875 Southgate Ave, Bldg. 225, Hill AFB UT, 84056-5231, tom.whitney@hill.af.mil, (801)777-3052.
