Description
This Pre-Solicitation Notice is being issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers - Chicago District to inform interested/potential contractors of the District's imminent issue of a Request for Proposal Package for its construction project, entitled "CHICAGO BOTANIC GARDEN, SECTION 206 (AQUATIC ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION)," located in the GLENCOE, ILLINOIS. PROJECT INFORMATION: The Chicago Botanic Garden (the Garden) North Lake Shoreline Restoration project is authorized under the Water Resource Development Act of 1996, Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration, Section 206. The project includes the enhancement of aquatic and near-shore habitats and shoreline stabilization of approximately 1,900 LF of the Fruit and Vegetable Garden island and approximately 4,500 LF of the perimeter of the North Lake. By stabilizing the banks, the shorelines surrounding the North Lake and Fruit and Vegetable Garden island will offer significantly improved ecological and aesthetic function. Major Project Features: Shoreline restoration by creating a gentle, stable slope transition from aquatic habitat to upland habitat together with robust native plantings along the habitat continuum. Stabilizing the toe of the restored shoreline slope using a combination of stone berm, vinyl sheet pile, and concrete retaining wall. ACQUISITION INFORMATION: Competition for this acquisition is RESTRICTED to SMALL BUSINESS CONCERNS. The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry System Code 237990, with a small business size standard in dollars of $33.5M. The magnitude of cost for construction is between $1M and $5M. The Request for Proposal (RFP) Package will be downloadable from the INTERNET ONLY. The project specification files are Portable Document Format (PDF) files and can be viewed, navigated or printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Interested Offerors can download the RFP Package from: http://www.Fbo.gov. The RFP Package will be available at the aformentioned Internet site on 5 May 2011 with a proposal due date of 7 June 2011. In order for contractors to be awarded contracts with the Department of Defense, the contractor must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR); Contractors can access the CCR for free at http://www.ccr.gov. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed price construction contract from this acquisition. Request for solicitation packages made by telephone, fax or e-mail will not be honored.
