- Description
- The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) intends to award a brand name sole source fixed-price purchase order under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)), Simplified Acquisition Procedures for One (1) New Volvo Penta D6-330A PS 12v marine engine AND One (1) New Volvo Penta DP-H 1.76:1 Stern Drive.USGS Pacific Coastal and Marine Geology operates a fleet of large and small vessels to conduct geophysical and marine mapping and oceanographic research. Our flagship research and seafloor mapping vessel, the Parke Snavely, is powered by two Volvo Penta 06-33A PS 12v Marine Engines with Volvo Penta OP-H 1.76:1 stern drives. We also have a third, spare Volvo Penta OP-H 1 :76 stern drive that we keep serviced and on hand for replacement of the operational drives when is damaged during field survey operations. We have acquired a second large vessel, a 26' Radon workboat, from USGS BRO that will increase our mapping and survey capability. This vessel was acquired without a working engine and we intend to power it with a single engine and stern drive identical to those in the Parke Snavely. This would allow us to use existing special maintenance tools, expendables and replacement parts to service both vessels, thus providing efficiency and cost savings for our vessel maintenance and support program. The Volvo Penta DP-H 1.76:1 stern drive is designed to operate with the Volvo Penta 0633A PS 12v Marine Engine as a matched set. When installed as a matched system, the engine and stern drive are warranted by the manufacturer. NO SOLICITATION OR REQUEST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) IS AVAILABLE FOR THIS PROCUREMENT.Notwithstanding, any firm that believes it is capable of meeting the USGS requirement as stated herein may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the Agency (FAR 5.207(c)(15)(ii)). All questions or comments regarding this procurement shall be addressed in writing to Zachary Buss, at zbuss@usgs.gov. This notice and any resulting solicitation or contract conforms to the requirements in place through FAC 2005-51, Effective 01 April 2011.In accordance with FAR 5.207(c)(13)(i), One or more of the items under this acquisition is subject to Free Trade Agreements. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for this procurement is 333618 (Other Engine Equipment Manufacturing). SBA Size Standard in employees: 1000The requirement is unrestricted to business size.
