Description
Scope of Work and Schedule of Deliverables Department of Health and Human Services Program Support Center intends to award a sole source simplified acquisition procedure to AcademyHealth. AcademyHealth will organize two activities for the Office of Healthcare Quality. A 90-minute sessions during the 2011 AcademyHealth Quality Interest Group meeting will be devoted to showcasing OHQ research initiatives and contributions to preventing healthcare acquired infections (HAI). The second activity will be a 60 minute webinar to discuss preliminary research results with the AcademyHealth health services research community on OHQ sponsored research to examine for disparities in HAIs. Quality Interest Group Session 1: OHQ Research Update: The session, moderated by Don Wright, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Healthcare Quality, will provide an overview of OHQ HAI reduction activities, research agenda for the coming years, and factors shaping OHQ activities. The session will also provide an overview of the OHQ awards program that recognizes critical care teams and healthcare organizations for sustained improvements in preventing HAIs. All activities are designed to stimulate health services research on HAIs. Invited Paper: This component of the session is also organized jointly by OHQ and AcademyHealth and moderated by Dr. Wright. The session will include an invited presentation of research results on the affects of public reporting on actual HAI rates. Webinar: OHQ/AcademyHealth Webinar: This session is organized by the Office of Healthcare Quality and moderated by Don Wright, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Healthcare Quality. James Studnicki, Professor at the University of North Carolina - Charlotte will present preliminary research findings on HAIs and health disparities. The webinar will focus on gathering input from the health services research community on the preliminary research results. Schedule of Deliverables The Interest Group Session is scheduled to occur on June 11, 2011. The webinar will be in January 2012.
