Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP), Division of Tuberculosis Elimination Division (DTBE) is contemplating multiple awards for the Tuberculosis Epidemiologic Studies Consortium (TBESC) Research Project entitled, "Improving the Diagnosis and Treatment of Latent TB Infection." The project objectives are to support TBESC Research to improve the diagnosis and treatment of Latent Tuberculosis Infection (LTBI). The research study conducted will include the evaluation of: (1) Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) and Interferon Gamma Release Assays (IGRAs) in diagnosing LTBI and in predicting progression from LTBI to TB Disease; and (2) Measures to enhance adherence and completion of LTBI treatment, such as: shorter-course LTBI preventive therapy, self-administered versus directly observed preventive therapy, and education programs (either general or targeted to specific high-risk populations). This requirement is anticipated to be a full and open competition under North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code of 621498 with a small business size standard of $7 million. The anticipated performance period is the Base Period of six (6) months and Option Period 1 of six (6) months and Option Periods 2 - 10 of twelve (12) months each (if exercised by the Government). The date specified for receipt of offers will be approximately 45 days after the solicitation issue date, on or about June 17, 2011. Further instructions will follow in the Request for Proposal. A Request for Proposal will be made available on the Internet at http://www.fbo.gov on or about May 5, 2011. Requests for Proposals in hard copy form will not be available. Telephone requests will not be honored. Interested parties are responsible for checking the website regularly for release of the RFP and for other procurement-related documents.
