Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR WIRELESSVOICE COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in theirquote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ, and awritten amendment will not be issued.The purpose of this amendment is to answer the following questions received frominterested offerors, and to incorporate a revision to the Specifications (Attachment 1)and a Connectivity Diagram (Attachment 3).Attachment 1 can be viewed at: http://procurement.jsc.nasa.gov/NNJ11383133Q/Attach_1_Specs_Revised.pdf Attachment 3 can be viewed at:http://procurement.jsc.nasa.gov/NNJ11383133Q/Attach-3_Diagram.pptx Q1. Please provide general description of the requested communications system and itsintended usage. A1. The intended system provides wireless voice communications via an existing wirelessEthernet network. The system includes voice recognition for call control as well ashooks for customizing the system to include voice control of other applications andsystems. The intent is to provide hands free communication and system voice control viaexisting networks.Q2. Please specify preferable type of end-point devices - such as IP Phones withattached headsets, laptops with attached headsets, mobile phones or other devices. A2. End-point devices must include built-in speakers and microphones for use without aheadset as well as accommodate plug-in headsets or earphones. A simple interface withonly a few push buttons, without a key pad, must be provided in addition to the abilityto establish a call using voice control.Q3. Do you require speech recognition for dialing functionalities only - or such systemis expected to perform much more complex tasks? A3. In addition to establishing calls, the speech recognizer must be accessible by otherapplications to support development of custom applications for voice control of systemsand information access.Q4. Do you require Point-to-Point or Point-to-Multipoint communications? A4. The system must support point-to-point communications as well as point-to-multipointcommunications for broadcast of paging messages.Q5. Do you require connectivity to IP Infrastructure? A5. Yes, the system must be capable of operating over a standard 802.11G wirelessnetwork.Q6. Do you require connectivity to PSTN Infrastructure? A6. Connectivity to the PSTN is not required.Q7. Do you require connectivity to VSAT Infrastructure? A7. Connectivity to VSAT infrastructure is not required.Q8. Should the system be completely mobile and / or self-contained? A8. End-point devices must be completely mobile and wearable by the user. Server-basedsystem control software and hardware is not required to be mobile.Q9. Are there any weigh and / or dimension restrictions? A9. Although there are no specific minimum target mass or volume requirements, theend-point devices must be as small as possible to minimize obstruction to the user. Asmass is a critical factor, minimum mass is essential.Q10. Are there any electric power restrictions? A10. No power restrictions. End-point devices must be battery operated and provide aminimum of 2 hours of talk time.Q11. Can you provide connectivity diagrams to better understand your needs? A.11. See Attachment 3.The due date for receipt of offers is not extended.Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASAAcquisition Internet Service (NAIS)on April 18, 2011. Documents related to thisprocurement are available over the Internet. These documents reside on a World Wide Web(WWW) server which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
