- The FAA intends to solicit and award a firm-fixed price contract for the installation of a Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) System serving Runway 22L at O'Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois. The contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, materials, and equipment to perform the project in accordance with the contract clauses, drawings, and specifications. Work under this project consists of, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Contract services of a registered land surveyor to properly layout the PAPI lamp housings and provide horizontal and vertical control. 2. Coordinate with local FAA SSC personnel, airport maintenance personnel, and commercial cable locators to locate and mark underground utilities prior to digging. 3. Remove topsoil in area to receive crushed rock and excavate for foundations.4. Construct reinforced concrete foundations.5. Construct perimeter grounding loop around Lamp Housing Assembly (LHA) foundations.6. Construct PAPI power and control equipment rack including drilled pier concrete foundations, galvanized frangible steel supports with galvanized unistrut, PAPI power and control cabinet, disconnect switch, surge arrester, ICMS PAPI Remote Electronic Interface Assembly and lightning protection.7. Install PAPI LHAs and EMT supports on concrete foundations. 8. Construct concrete-encased PVC 2-way duct bank from Runway 22L Glide Slope (GS) shelter to the PAPI power and control equipment rack and from the equipment rack to the light bases in PAPI LHAs' foundations. 9. Install power and control cables from PAPI power and control equipment rack to PAPI LHAs in duct bank and make connections to equipment at both ends. 10. Install power cables in concrete-encased PVC 2-way duct bank from PAPI power and control equipment rack to existing runway 22L GS shelter power panel. 11. Install six pair PE-39 copper control cable in concrete-encased PVC 2-way duct bank from PAPI power and control equipment rack to runway 22L GS shelter. 12. Construct crushed rock plots around PAPI power and control equipment rack and PAPI LHAs.13. Aim PAPI LHAs.14. Verify PAPI will operate normally on local control. The work will be performed in strict accordance with the contract drawings and specifications. Contract performance time is 30 calendar days, with an anticipated start date of July 22, 2011. The estimated price range for this procurement is between $100,000 and $250,000. NAICS is 237990. INTERESTED FIRMS MUST HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED SIMILAR PROJECTS BOTH IN DOLLAR AMOUNT AND SCOPE OF WORK AT AN OPERATIONAL AIRPORT.
