Description
NAVFAC ESC is interested seeking technologies and methodologies to demonstrate and validate an adhered PV system in Guam, in the laboratory and under real world conditions, and evaluating the durability of conventional PV panels for use under typhoon conditions. The following topics of interest should be addressed in the proposal: (a) Identify a technology and methodology for achieving technical requirements. (b) The methodology should help identify cost saving opportunities for future systems (e.g., lower maintenance requirements). (c) Industry standard practices should be complied with as much as practicable. New or modified standards may need to be created to improve upon the viability of the system, but costs should be considered. (d) Industry test standards should be used to the maximum extent possible. Innovation is sought, in accordance with the above interest areas, in 1) Field demonstration approach: time period; layout of PV panels and samples; variation in amount of adhesives used; # of PV samples; size of functional PV system; brands/types of PV panels; 2) Real-world weathering vs. lab accelerated weathering results and how to determine the risk of mass deploying functional systems as time goes by 3) Test approach for lab testing rigid PV panels to 200 mph
