Vendors may provide suggested modifications to the government-provided fire suppression system design drawings. Any modifications to the design must be in accordance with UFC 3-600-01, Fire Protection Engineering for Facilities, and other applicable codes as referenced in the general requirements. Vendor-modified designs must be wet stamped by a licensed fire protection engineer. Additionally, hydraulic calculations must be provided for vendor-modified designs and shall be wet stamped by a licensed fire protection engineer. 2. Elements of vendor-modified design submission requirements are clarified below: a. Stamped Drawings: Comply with UFC 3-600-01 requirements. The vendor-modified fire suppression system drawings must be stamped by a registered Fire Protection Engineer. b. List of required design analysis: The US Government is responsible to perform flow test, data is available in the attached drawing sets. All the fire protection drawings and hydraulic calculations shall be wet stamped by licensed fire protection engineer for vendor-modified designs. 3. Sprinkler heads other than those specified on the original plans provided by the government may be used. Any substitute sprinkler head selected must be listed and must have the same orientation, temperature ratings, and K-Factors as the sprinkler heads on the original government provided plans. 4. Flexible sprinkler head assemblies may not used on any portion of this project. The flexible head assemblies are not allowed by our higher headquarters. 5. The original government supplied plans showed the backflow prevention device with OS&Y valves. Backflow preventers with butterfly valves may be used. Attached are the building structural drawings (pdf) and autocad versions of the fire detection and fire suppression systems as well as other building system drawings.
