Description
The James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Mountain Home, TN has a requirement for an Architectural/Engineering firm to design CG building 200 Patient Privacy. The main objective of this project is to increase the privacy for Veteran patients and provide for the increased need for private rooms within the facilities Medical Nursing Unit CG, building 200 Main Hospital (approximately 20,968 square feet). The need will be met by renovating the existing four bed patient room's now sharing one bathroom, into two patient room's sharing one bathroom. AE shall evaluate square footage utilization in order to maximize private patient room/bathroom. AE shall evaluate staff/support areas for improved customer service, patient satisfaction, and maximum efficiency. Design shall incorporate two mental health isolation rooms as well as a bariatric patient room. Infrastructure improvement shall include complete gutting of the patient bed areas, replacing out dated glazed aluminum windows with seal problems, utility systems, demolition, concrete, new walls and doors, ceilings, floors, interior and exterior finishes, casework, new mechanical HVAC, electrical, plumbing, medical gas, sprinkler, fire alarm, data and communications systems, all applicable security elements including access control and video surveillance systems and modifications of all applicable existing systems as necessary for a complete renovation project. The project design shall be in compliance with with applicable standards and codes described in VA Program Guides and design materials. Master Construction Specifications Index, VA Construction Standards Index, VA Standards Index, and Criteria as available in the Technical Information Library at http://www.cfm.va.gov/til/. The project design shall comply with the Guiding Principles for Federal Leadership in High Performance and Sustainable Buildings set forth in the Federal Leadership in High Performance and Sustainable Buildings Memorandum of Understandings (2006) by providing work consistent with the Green Building Initiative Green Globes principles for Continual Improvement of Existing Buildings (CIEB). NAICS code 541310 is applicable to this project. The size standard is $4.5M. Selection criteria will based on the following: 1.) Professional qualifications necessary for satisfactory performance of required services; 2.)Specialized experience and technical competence in the type of work required, including, where appropriate, experience in energy conservation, pollution prevention, waste reduction, and the use of recovered materials; 3.)Capacity to accomplish the work in the required time; 4.) Past Performance on contracts with Government agencies and private industry in terms of cost control, quality of work and compliance with performance schedules; 5.) Location in the general geographical area of the project and knowledge of the locality of the project and 6.) Acceptability under other appropriate evaluation criteria. Firms desiring consideration for this project shall submit 2 copies of their SF330 demonstrating their capability no later than 2:00pm Eastern Standard Time by Wednesday June 8, 2011. The Prime contractor (AE firm) SHALL be licensed/registered Architects; in addition in applicable disciplines shall also be licensed or registered (i.e., electrical, mechanical, fire protection, etc.)
