Description

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source contract to Precision Medical Products, Inc. (PMP) for the purchase of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) licensed Smallpox (Vaccinia) Vaccine ACAM2000® Kit component Bifurcating Needles. PMP is the only FDA licensed provider of Bifurcating Needle for the vaccination of licensed Smallpox. This is stipulated in FDA License # 1815 Per Sanofi Pasteur Biologic Co. (formerly Acambis Inc.), is the US license number 1815 holder for ACAM2000® Smallpox (Vaccinia) Vaccine, Live Biologics License Application which describes Kitting of ACAM2000® Vaccine as the following: "ACAM2000® Smallpox Vaccine is not supplied as a traditional, single-use kit, but the components are packed separately due to storage temperature requirements. An ACAM2000® Smallpox Vaccine dose Kit contains ACAM2000®, Diluent, Bifurcated vaccinating Needles (PMP, Precision Medical Products Part Number PB-0100-000-00 510K #K012515, and a 50 1-ml transfer syringe for reconstituting the vaccine by use of the diluent." This procurement will be processed under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. It is the Government's belief that only one responsible source exists and no other product or services will satisfy agency requirements. The following requirement is for the Division of Strategic National Stockpile (DSNS), Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response (OPHPR). The purpose of this contract is to purchase 17,500,000 bifurcated needles FDA licensed for Licensed Smallpox (Vaccinia) Vaccine. No solicitation is being issued.
