Description
GRASS LAKE COMPOSTING TOILET NAICS: 423990 LOCATION: Graeagle, Plumas County, CA This project is for one prefabricated single stall composting toilet for Grass Lake on the Beckwourth Ranger District of the Plumas National Forest. The disassembled unit is to be transported by the contractor to a helispot near Grass Lake within 30 days of award. Final transport of unit from helispot to the lake will be the Government's responsibility. The unit shall be disassembled for ease of helicopter transport. Once transported to Grass Lake, the contractor will be required to assemble the unit at the Grass Lake site. To access the site the contractor may use a small motorized/non-motorized vehicle(s), such as ATV(s) or bicycle(s), or hike in. The work order to assemble the unit will be issued when the lake is accessible in 2011 (probably by mid-June). The contractor will then have 21 calendar days to complete the assembly. The contractor will instruct the Government on service and maintenance of the unit. If the proposed unit does not meet any one of the following requirements, the proposal will be rejected: -Meet the definition of a "commercial item" per Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 2 -No ground disturbance (digging of any kind) required for the unit to be installed and to function properly -No utility hookups necessary to fully utilize the unit -Heated, such as via built-in photovoltaic battery, to ensure material is composted properly in insulated chamber -No pumping or leach field required for liquids/solids disposal -Steps included to access the unit, if necessary -A passive rainwater/snow melt collection device with insulated chamber for cleaning of the unit -No welding needed for proper assembly Solicitation package will be uploaded approximately May 12, 2011, with an offer closing date of May 18, 2011.
