Description

The Department of Health and Human Services/Food and Drug Administration (HHS/FDA) intends to award on a sole source basis an order for a VHX-1000 3D Digital Microscope System to Keyence Corporation of America of Elmwood Park, NJ. Because of recent approval by the Office of Regulator Affairs to expand the Winchester Engineering and Analytical Center's collaborative stent project with Massachusetts Institute of Technology, there is a need to purchase the more advanced Keyence digital microscope with 16 bit color resolution, XYZ image stitching and 3D CCD pixel shifting. This microscope is required for the pre- and post test inspections and characterizations of the many stent designs and sizes that are to be life tested under this initiative. Statutory Authority: 41 U.S.C (C)(1); Only one responsible source and no other supplies or sources will satisfy agency requirements. Market search published in FBO from March 23 to April 1, 2011 failed to yield any acceptable alternatives. Estimated Award Date: 05/24/2011.
