Unit 5 Map Unit 4 Map Unit 2 & 3 Map Unit 1 Map Eastside Openings Contract Units Map List Solicitation AG-54B0-S-11-0017 Hiawatha National Forest Eastside Wildlife Openings - Service contract to cut young vegetation on the eastside of the HNF over the next three years 2011-2013. The contractor would be responsible for equipment and personnel to accomplish two vegetation treatment types. One treatment is designed to improve habitat suitability for Kirtland's warbler by creating several small openings (0.25 acre) within young jack pine stands. The second treatment type would consist of cutting most of the young vegetation within existing large openings to help maintain openland habitat for various wildlife species. The planned quantity of treatment is the creation of about 100 one-quarter acre openings within about 530 acres of young jack pine stands and maintenance of about 490 acres of large wildlife opening.
