Description
AMENDMENT 2 - RA1341-11-RQ-0501BS The purpose of this Amendment 2 is to extend the response date and to provide the following question and request for clarification and the responses to both: Question 1: Can you get clarification of the need for a Tech Spec 1 which states the Sodar must be capable of operating with AC Power only, but in Line Items 0006 & 0007 calls for an AC Charger and a deep cycle battery. Why would you need these if it is an AC Power only unit? Answer 1: The primary power source is AC power. This is fed through the AC charger to charge the battery. The sodar itself operates off of DC power supplied from the battery. In the event of a power outage, the battery provides backup power for several hours to reduce the chance of lost operational time while AC power is being restored. Question 2: After reading #9 of the requested Verification of Compliance we felt that the question was ambiguous. Can you have the technical team clarify what parameters of they would like to control. Answer 2: Standard operating parameters such as averaging time, range (height), and range gate interval are among the settings that could be potentially adjusted to improve resolution and data recovery. For this project, averaging time and gate interval will be fixed at 10 minutes and 10 m and will not be available for making any adjustments to improve data quality. However, there are other parameters that the user might adjust to improve data quality and recovery. Examples of these could include adjusting transmit frequency, pulse length, power, temperature setting, and vertical velocity correction. The response date is extended to May 18, 2011, 12:00 Noon, MDT.
