The Seminar is free to the public, with free on-site parking available. The "Seminar" series is intended to provide information about the U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), to include information about its mission; its small business and acquisition programs; its technical program operations; the legal perspective on contracting with the agency; and to introduce future prime and subcontract contract opportunities that will support mission operations. The "Seminar" series also affords business and agency networking opportunities. The "Seminar" series has introduced a new segment entitled "BIZ Corner" from 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. The June "BIZ Corner" will introduce Three White Flint North (3WFN) Building and potential prime and subcontracting opportunities supporting building, operations and maintenance. The NRC supports small business-related public policies and is committed to increasing both Federal prime and subcontract opportunities for small businesses, including those small businesses owned by: the Disadvantaged, Women, Veterans, Service-Disabled Veterans, and those located in Historically Underutilized Business Zones. In Fiscal Year 2010, the NRC procured more than $257 million in products and services. Acquisitions ranged from basic office supplies and administrative support services, to construction and engineering, to management and inspection, to research and development, all in support of agency mission goals and objectives. The NRC and other agencies that awarded acquisitions on its behalf, expended more than 29 percent of those contract dollars to small businesses; 12 percent to Small Disadvantage Businesses; 5.4 percent to Woman-Owned Small Businesses; 3.6 percent to Historically Underutilized Business Zone concerns; 6.6 percent to Veteran-Owned Small Businesses; and 2.4 percent to Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses.
