The material to be tested is Avcoat, producedby Textron Defense Systems of Wilmington, MA. The required work includes computedtomography (CT) scans of a large plate of material that is to be machined into variousspecimens by the contractor. The temperature range of interest will be RT to 400 degreeF. Thermal tests are to include specific heat by drop calorimeter, and thermalconductivity via guarded hot plate and comparative rod techniques. The contractor isrequired to have the facilities, staff and technical expertise to perform all of theabove listed work at the required level of quality assurance within a four month timeperiod in order to meet critical program milestones.NASA/ ARC intends to purchase the services from Southern Research Institute (SoRI) ofBirmingham, AL, in accordance with 10 USC 2304(c)(1), the only known responsible sourcefor these items, and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
