Description

PURCHASE OF A RAMAN SPECTROPHOTOMETER – WORK STATION 785 This is a SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE to determine the availability and capability of small businesses, including 8(a) certified businesses, service-disabled veteran owned small businesses, HUB Zone small businesses, small disadvantaged business, veteran-owned small business, and women-owned small businesses to purchase a RAMAN SPECTROMETER - WORK STATION 785, for a library - based drug quality studies. The Division of Pharmaceutical Analysis' (DPA) work on library-based methods has shown that spectral libraries are an excellent way to perform rapid, non-destructive identification and verification analysis on excipients (raw materials) and active pharmaceutical ingredients. In the next phase, the FDA plans on developing rapid Raman Library-Based Methods to study the drug quality of medical countermeasure (MCM) drugs. These drugs play an important role in protecting public health during a national crisis. In addition to ensuring that quality drugs are available during a national crisis, the studies will also provide a more efficient avenue for detecting and preventing adulterated or counterfeit medicines from being stockpiled.
