Description
This solicitation and any resultant contract is a stewardship project in accordance with Section 323 of Public Law 108-7 (16 U.S.C. 2104 Note, as revised February 28, 2003 to reflect sec. 323 of J.J. Res. 2 as enrolled), the Consolidated Appropriations Resolution, 2003, amending Public Law 105-277, sec. 347. This is a request for proposals Service acquisition that has been tailored to fit the Government's method of trading goods for services. An estimated 17,860 Tons (2,671 M board feet) of sawtimber is marked or otherwise designated for cutting on 545 acres. There are 4 mandatory and 2 optional stewardship projects. Mandatory Stewardship projects are: biomass thinning and removal on 465 acres, brush cutting and machine piling on 448 acres, removal and disposal of one discarded culvert, and road maintenance on 16.33 miles. Optional Stewardship Projects are: road maintenance on 7.88 miles, and mastication on 13 acres. Treatment areas consist of natural stands and ponderosa pine plantations. Commercial thinning will be accomplished through cutting of individually designated trees. Reduction of hazardous fuels will be accomplished by the removal and/or treatment of thinned trees, slash, cull logs, and brush. Project Location - The majority of the project area (4,349 acres) is situated approximately 5 miles North and East of Pollock Pines, California. The legal locations are: T11N., R13E., Section 1-5, 10-14, and 24; T12N, R13E, Sections 33-35; Mount Diablo Base and Meridian (MDB&M); All treatment areas are between elevations of approximately 3,500 and 5,100 feet. Solicitation package will be uploaded approximately June 2, 2011. Approximate Bid Open date is July 5, 2011. Period of Performance is from date of contract award until December 31, 2013.
