- 1. SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS. This request is an announcement for information/market research for planning purposes. The synopsis does not constitute a request for proposal, request for quote, invitation for bid nor does its issuance in any way restrict the Government as to its ultimate acquisition approach. 2. The Air Force Nuclear Weapon Center/PKOA, Kirtland AFB, New Mexico, is seeking potential sources to provide a Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC) Training Dome. CLIN 0001: Dome Display: - 3-5 meter dome no bigger than 20' Length x 15' Width x 15' Height - Hemispherical Display between 220 and 360 degrees Field of View(FOV) - Vertical Display between 90 and 180 degrees FOV - Ability to rapidly assemble/disassamble Dome Projection System Specs: Resolution The limiting resolution for an image generator-created alternating square wave test pattern, when measured at the trainee(s) eye point, shall exhibit no worse than 4.0-9.0 arc-minutes per optical line. Color Miss-Convergence The color miss-convergence shall not exceed 2.0 -9.0 arc-minutes within a circle whose diameter is equal to the narrow dimension of the channel and less than 4.0-9.0 arc-minutes outside the circle. Color Convergence Stability The convergence stability shall, for a minimum of 8 hours, remain within 2.0-9.0 arc-minutes. Smear, Flicker, and Stepping Smear due to image motion; flicker, judder stepping or other discrete image motion shall not be noticeable in the display system field-of-view. Drift Drift shall not exceed 2.0-9.0 arc-minutes per 8-hour period of continuous operation. Viewing Spectrum The viewing spectrum supported shall include visible, low-light level starlight, and NVG (near infrared). Physical Image Stability (Jitter) All projector mountings, projection technology, and display surface shall be rigid and fixed so that no perceptible image jitter or vibration occurs. Supportability/Maintenance The dome system shall consist of components that can be field supported/maintained for 3 years. Color No distracting color, luminance, or contrast variation shall be visible anywhere in the display system. Projector Position All projectors shall be placed so that the trainee(s) and the simulated military equipment do not interfere with the light beam (light path) from the projectors during training sessions and casts minimum shadow effect. Luminance Anywhere inside the display FOV, luminance shall be a minimum of 10 Ft-L with any projectors or panels set at their normal operation settings. Luminance shall be measured at the design eye point. Luminance variation shall be less than fifty percent (50%). Contrast The Contrast [C1 = (max-min)/min] measured from the eye point using a full-screen checkerboard pattern shall be a minimum of 10:1 as measured from the eye point. Viewing Volume The screen shall provide a crisp, bright scene when viewed from within the viewing volume. A viewing volume of at least 3 foot radius, centered at the design eye point, shall be provided. The viewing volume shall be sufficient to accommodate 2-6 personnel, with combat and support equipment. Geometric Distortion All lines and edges shall appear unbroken, straight, and sharp. Color The visual system shall not display any distracting color, luminance, contrast, or blending zone anomalies when viewed from within the viewing volume. Electronic Alignment A remote or automatically controlled display alignment capability shall be provided. The remote or automatic display alignment capability shall support all specified video qualities. Keystone and Non-Linear Distortion The visual system shall provide keystone correction. For curved display surfaces (non-flat screens) the visual system shall provide non-linear distortion correction.
