- This solicitation is to procure the next generation Fiber Optic Antenna Link(FOAL) Receiver to be used in the Navigation Sensor System Interface(NAVSSI). This new receiver shall be named the FOAL Receiver V2 and shall beused in support of the NAVSSI onboard CVN 78, and with current and futureNAVSSI rugged rackmount systems. The FOAL Receiver V2 shall supportexpanded GPS signal distribution required for greater capability onboard CVN78 as well as current and future NAVSSI Systems. The NAICS code is 334511.The effort will include the following: design and production requirements forthree versions of an upgraded NAVSSI FOAL Receiver V2. The goal is todevelop a FOAL Receiver V2 which is more producible, has an improvedstatus/control interface, and supports the installation of a 3rd FOAL ReceiverV2external to the NAVSSI system racks. All configurations of the NAVSSI FOALReceiver V2 shall provide a common set of capabilities and support additionalcapabilities unique to their application. The new FOAL Receiver V2 will bebackward compatible with the current FOAL Receiver. The design of theExternal FOAL Receiver V2 shall maximize the use of design features andhardware components used for the FOAL Receiver V2. The FOAL Receiver V2 design concept requires engineering design andproduction capability in GPS RF and GPS Fiber Optic signal distribution,automated system control, and mechanical packaging to meet the ruggedrackmouint and hull-mount equipment requirements for US Navy shipboardinstallation.
