Description
Questions and Answers Questions and Answers No information given on this document amends the solicitation. Question 1: Plans call for 6" wide asphalt trail under option. Secon (local asphalt supplier and paver says 6' width is all hand work. All asphalt equipment, paver, roller, etc is for 8" width. Answer 1. See Answer 2. Question 2: 8' asphalt trail is much more cost effective. Can this be an option for the pricing on the asphalt trail? Answer 2. An 8 ft. width is acceptable, however, item 941(10) Additional Aggregate Surfacing will need to be increased from 50 c.y. to 60 c.y. to blend the downhill edge of the paved trail. Question 3: On the 190 ft of equipment access trails, do you want a specific width, and what type of material placement? Answer 3. The equipment access trails adhere to the same specifications as the main trail except that grade is not limited to ADA/ABA standards, i.e. grades may exceed 5%. Question 4: I note that under Materials: 941-03 Aggregate Surfacing (p. 10-26) asks to meet the AKDOT "Standard Specifications for Highway Construction, 1998" We have been using the AKDOT Stardard version updated in 2004. Table 703-1 and 703-2 for the surface aggregate. Can we use the aggregate spec listed in the FP-03, adopted by the USFS several years ago? Look at 704-1 table and 704-2 table, Page 613 of the FP-03. Answer 4. FP-03 section 704 is for soils, not aggregates. Tables 704-1 and 704-2 are not sufficient for the job. The AKDOT spec aggregates are commercially available. Spec versions more current than 1998 are not significantly different regarding the E-1 gradation.
