Description
SFSIAQ11R0031_ Laguage Studies Solicitation The Foreign Service Institute (FSI) is part of the U.S. Department of State and provides language training and testing to employees of the Department of State and other government agencies in more than sixty foreign languages. FSI's School of Language Studies is responsible for the diverse and complex mission of language training for employees of the State Department and other U.S. Government agencies. The School of Language Studies consists of approximately 450 technical and professional personnel. Enrollments surpass 4000 students annually, and include over 1000 Distance Learning enrollments. The School of Language Studies is staffed by professionals in the field of foreign language teaching, culture, and applied linguistics. In addition to the full-time direct-hire staff, the School makes extensive use, through contract and other arrangements, of other professionals from outside the Foreign Service Institute. The Foreign Service Institute is actively seeking companies that can supply contractors for a variety of regular work schedules or occasional, intermittent activities. Successful contractors may join an existing teaching, testing, or program management staff composed of government employees and contractors. The settings within which the work is conducted include large- and small-group classrooms, most of which are equipped with interactive white boards; facilities for video and audio recording; a multimedia lab; testing rooms; standard offices; and a library. A typical class may have one to six students, although groups may range up to twenty.
