- Description
- The USGS has a requirement for an airborne magnetic survey of an area near Wenatchee in central Washington for the purpose of further understanding the geological framework of the area. The USGS requires a state-of-the-art airborne magnetometer with a sensitivity of 0.1 nT or better, preferably mounted in a tail-stinger. The aircraft shall be equipped with recording radar altimeter, barometric altimeter, digital camera, and differential GPS with a positioning accuracy better than 15 feet (4.5 meters). All aircraft data shall be recorded at 0.1 second intervals or better. Also required is a base station magnetometer with a sensitivity of 0.2 nT or better. The base station data shall be recorded at 1 second intervals or better. All equipment shall be calibrated according to manufacturers specifications and all data shall be calibrated and corrected for any system response, drift, and aircraft noise. Figure-of-merit tests are required at the survey site prior to the magnetic survey to determine heading error characteristics. The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, facilities, and an aircraft capable of slow climbs and descents. A pre-planned draped flight surface shall be required, and a description of the method used shall be included in the proposal. The contractor shall provide digitally recorded and processed data. Data processing shall include correction for diurnal fields, removal of IGRF, and leveling of all lines to minimize crossing errors between flight line and tie line crossings. An example of recently flown data shall be submitted with each contractors quotation. The USGS is in search of small business firms who are able to perform the above mentioned services. Small business firms who feel they can furnish the required services or its functional equivalent (based on criteria specified herein) are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and such other materials, which correspond to the required services state herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exists. Since no solicitation document exists, request for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request.
