Description
Purchase: 20 Beowulf Cluster Nodes This RFQ constitutes a "brand name or equal to" solicitation. This solicitation is in accordance with FAR 52.211-6, Brand Name or Equal. Objective is to procure 24 new servers and integrate them into an existing CDRH/OSEL Beowulf Cluster. Servers will be burned in by vendor and shipped to White Oak, but racking and integration will be performed by DIAM staff. Period of Performance: Vendor will require approximately 1 month on receipt of order to assemble, burn-in server components, and ship. Depot warranty service extends beyond delivery for 3 years. 1. Statement of Need. With addition of new DIAM staff and use by other divisions within OSEL, the existing Beowulf cluster systems are almost always running at 100% capacity. In addition, new types of extremely compute- and memory-intensive simulations become practical with additional nodes featuring 64-bit AMD Opteron processors. An upgraded cluster will allow CDRH scientists to research and understand the performance of computer aided diagnosis (CAD) software and other statistical learning machines on images, genomic data and other large, high-dimensional datasets. This will improve the assessment of new CAD submissions and assist in future guidance. Arbitrary tomographic x-ray systems will also be simulated. 2. Delivery or Performance-Period Requirements/Reporting Requirements and Deliverables.
