Description
MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL OR SOLICITATION Small And Any Other Size Business Are Encouraged To Respond The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Jefferson Laboratories, in Jefferson, Arkansas, is conducting market research to support the Lab of DNA Viruses, within the Division of Viral Products located at the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CDER). The Laboratory of DNA viruses has need for an inverted fluorescence microscope to visualize cells infected or not with DNA viruses. This microscope must be easy to use, reliable, efficient, and provide applications versatility and best image quality. The system must be able to be fully or partially computer controlled, integrated with multiple objective lens, multi-fluorescence filters, and super sensitive camera. The inverted fluorescence microscope platform must be upgradeable for more automotive controls. Only new equipment will be considered. Used or refurbished equipment will not acceptable. Item #1 Quantity of One (1) Motorized Inverted Research Microscope Technical Requirements • Shall be capable of High-quality Phase Contrast Observation • Shall have Built-in Perfect Focus System (PFS) for automatic focus correction • Shall have a photo activation unit allows cell marking and dynamic analysis using photoactivatable and photoswitchable proteins such as PA-GFP and Kaede. • Shall have diverse image acquisition and analysis methods such as multi-dimensional time-lapse imaging to acquire temporal, spatial and spectral information of fast, dynamic live cell processes. • Shall have applications such as confocal, FRET, and High Content Analysis (HCS),and photobleaching/photo activation to study interaction of fluorescence protein molecules in living cells and tissues • Shall have correction of focus drift during long-term observation and when reagents are added. • Shall employ 870nm wavelength for the coverglass interface detection so that near-infrared fluorescence dyes including Cy5.5 can be used. • Shall have multiple image port design for left, right or bottom ports for optical output to position the camera in any position. • Shall incorporate a phase ring-that was normally positioned within the phase contrast objective lens-into the external phase contrast unit optically so it allows use of specified high NA objectives to produce high-resolution phase contrast images. • Shall include the 60x and 100x TIRF objectives with the highest numerical aperture of 1.49 • Shall have a water immersion objective for phase contrast observation. • Shall have ability to use laser tweezers without changing the objective lens • Shall have motorized laser TIRF for observation of cell membrane dynamics and single molecule capture of high-resolution images in the entire frame for each wavelength • Shall be capable of time-lapse imaging. • Shall have operation buttons on both sides of microscope body. • Shall have aVFD screen and operation buttons on front of microscope body • Shall have a high-definition 5.0-megapixel cooled color camera head that features high frame rate, high red sensitivity, high resolution and accurate color reproduction. Firms believing they offer an equivalent Motorized Inverted Research Microscope to the above specifications are encouraged to respond electronically via email to the attention of Howard Nesmith at howard.nesmith@fda.hhs.gov on or before June 27, 2011 by 9:00 AM (Central Time) with no less than the following information: • Business name, DUNS number, business address, business website, business size status (i.e., SB, VOSB, SDVOSB, HUBZone SB, SDB, WOSB, LB), point of contact name, mailing address (if different from business address), phone number and email address; [North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 334516 - Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. Small Business Size Standard is 500 employees. • Sufficient descriptive literature that unequivocally demonstrates that offered products meet or exceed above specifications. • Though this is not a request for quote, informational pricing may be submitted. The government is not responsible for locating or securing any information, not identified in the response.
