Description
1. Stand-Alone Level IV Ballistic Protection Swimmer Cut-Front, back, and side ballistic plates. Vendor/manufacturer must provide proof of current NIJ Level IV ballistic protection without the use of soft body-armor vests/inserts. 2. Multi-Hit Capable-Front, back, and side ballist plates must provide protection from up to three rounds (two for side plates) of non-armor piercing rifle cartridges. 3. Ballistic Plates must offer front, back and side protection. Front and back plates must be available in Medium, Large and X-Large sizes 4. Sizes - 6-sided Ballistic plates must be of the following dimensions +/- ½" in order to fit currently used plate carriers (Eagle Plate Carrier Quick Release System) : Front/Back Med: 9.9" x 11.6" Top of plate not to exceed six inches in width. Swimmer plate angle cut begins five inches from top of plate resulting in an approximate cut-in angle of 20 degrees and the new "swimmer cut" edge measuring approximately 5 inches. Front/Back Lg: 9.9" x 12.10" Top of plate not to exceed six inches in width. Side: 5" x 5" or 6.5" x 6.5" 5. Front, Back and Side plates Must be no greater than 1" thick 6. Front and Back Plates must weigh less than 6 lbs each 7. Sides Plates must weigh less than 3 lbs each. 8. All ballistic plates must be sufficiently rugged to remain safe, operational, and effective following exposure to extreme environments such as high temperature, low temperature, seawater, chlorine water, gasoline, motor oil, weapons lubricant, and UV light. 9. Color required: None 10. All Ballistic Plates must be labeled with the statement, "NIJ Certified". 11. All plates must be neutrally buoyant. (FOUO) Ballistic plates must be capable of preventing penetration by one shot from the following cartridges: 7.62 x 51mm M80 Ball, 7.62 x 54Rmm LPS, 7.62 x 63mm APM2, and 7.62 x 54R API. Ballistic plates must be capable of preventing penetration by up to three shots from the following cartridges: 5.56 x 45mm M855, 7.62 x 39mm Ball. Specific ballistic threats (cartridges) will be provided to the manufacturer as part of the Lot Acceptance Test Plan
