- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (1), with Hitachi High Technologies America of Pleasanton, California, for a Service Maintenance Agreement, needed by Mechanical Metrology Division at NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland. Sole source determination is based on Hitachi being the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the S-5500 Scanning Electron Microscope, capable in providing a service maintenance agreement, in accordance with the original equipment's specifications. Hitachi is the only known vendor capable of providing the agreement. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811219, and the size standard is $19 M. A determination by the Government whether to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations. However, responses received by July 8, 2011 will be considered by the Government.
