- Description
- The following is a list of questions received regarding this posting, and the responses: 1. The RFI states for both Phases 1 and 2 that the "Resulting complete, cartographic representation must be rendered in 5 minutes, (less is preferred)." At what point does the rendering time begin-at the start of the session, after all data is selected and/or uploaded, when the cartographic processing is finished, or when the user "pushes the button" to print the map? Response - The clock starts once the data sources have been located and selected. 2. The RFI states that customers will supply "vector data for application use." If, for example, the customer supplies hydrographic or transportation vector data, is it expected that any contours produced will take this new vector data into account? Will the new vector data have to be deconflicted also? Response - Contours will not have to incorporate new transportation vectors; customer supplied data is just an overlay. 3. Does there need to be an option to add the user's vector data as overlays or markups to existing maps? Response - User supplied vectors will be simply an overlay. 4. What is the anticipated usage of the products of this portal, realizing that they cannot be used for navigation? Response - CWS graphics will be for situational awareness and when no standard map data is available. 5. Is there a definition or specification of "TLM-like" and "near-MILSPEC"? Response - No; CWS graphics are not meant to be spec, rather a product for field use when no standard products exist or when standard products are out of date. 6. Does "near-MILSPEC" mean, for example, full or partial symbolization? Response - "near-MILSPEC" means symbolized, but there will be some generalization, conflation irregularities. With this posting of questions and responses, the due date for submissions is hereby revised to 10:00 a.m. CST July 06, 2011
