Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR HAYABUSACLEANROOM. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This noticeserves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will notbe issued. The purpose of this amendment is to provide questions received from industry. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended.Q1: Will there be a bid package on this forthcoming or is the Statement of Work providedto be used as the bid documents?A1: Prospective offerors are required to submit an offer based on the statement of workprovided in the synopsis solicitation. Offerors are encouraged to use standard form 1449,Solicitation/Contract/Order for Commercial Items form found at URL:http://server-mpo.arc.nasa.gov/Services/NEFS/NEFSHome.tml. The statement of workshall not be used as a bid document but used as a reference to formulate the offerorsquote.Q2: Would you be opposed to just epoxy painting the existing walls that will be exposedto the air path in lieu of cladding them. I personally have used this technic verysuccessful all over the world in all types of clean room classifications including class10. The epoxy will encapsulate the existing wall and the air stream will remain clean. You will still get the class 10 for a very long time at less first cost to the project.A2: Yes, the Government would be opposed to epoxy painting the existing walls becausethe existing walls are covered with vinyl clean room wall covering and prefer not topaint over the existing wall covering.Q3: Regarding the existing ceiling in Room 1106: If it is a hard, painted gypsum boardceiling I suggest the same this as the walls; encapsulate the existing ceiling with 2coats of epoxy paint. If the ceiling is an existing acoustical type lay-in ceiling, wouldyou be opposed to just replacing the ceiling tiles with vinyl faced gypsum board, cleanroom rated tiles? This will save first cost money also and not be a detriment to theproject. A3: The existing ceiling is painted gypsum. The statement of work does not require theepoxy paint for the ceiling but the epoxy paint is acceptable.Q4: In the SOW Section 7.2, I had a question about cladding the air path. As stated inthe SOW the existing wall exposed to the air path are to be cladded with aluminumpanels. Does this include the ceiling of the existing room also? If so, what is theexisting ceiling made of?A4: Based on the requirements stated in section 7.2 of the statement of work, cladding isnot included for the ceiling of the existing room. The existing ceiling is paintedgypsum. Q5: Section 7.2 also: Do you want the transparent viewing walls to be glass from floorto ceiling or from 4 above finished floor to ceiling?A 5: Based on section 7.2 of the statement of work, the transparent viewing walls arerequired and the Government prefer the 4 above the finished floor to the ceiling.Q6: How much if any of the electrical wiring would you want us to do? Statement 10.2 saysthat the power wiring will be done in-house. Is this all the wiring or just from acertain point? Please define.A6: Based on section 10.2 of the statement of work, all the power for blowers andlighting will be furnished by in-house workforce.Q7: The synopsis/solicitation has a clean room delivery date stated September 6, 2011 andthe statement of work has a delivery date stated October 1, 2011. What is the correctclean room delivery date? A7: The correct delivery date for the clean room is September 6, 2011.Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASAAcquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on June 28, 2011.
