Description
This is a sources sought announcement only, and is not an intent to procure. A solicitation is not available at this time, and any requests for a solicitation will not receive a response. ASC/PKOA Contracting at Wright Patterson AFB, OH, is conducting market research to determine the availability of firms to provide of a high power, commercially available high precision Excimer Laser. It is required that the laser be optimized for use in a pulsed laser deposition (PLD) system currently in use in RXPS. It is needed to replace an existing 20 year old Coherent Excimer laser that has failed. The RXPS PLD system requires a laser that has output pulse energy of 1100mJ. Energy levels below this will not work with our existing system and would be ineffective in processing the coatings being fabricated for the Meta-Materials project. The laser must have superior energy stability with a very homogenous beam profile. It must offer easy control with a handheld keypad, integrated energy monitor, and long component lifetimes. The major technical requirements necessary to meet our needs are: - Excimer Laser must have a maximum output energy per laser pulse of 1100 milli-Joules (mJ). - Excimer Laser must have an average operating power of 50 Watts. - Excimer Laser must have be able to operate at 248 nm. - Excimer Laser must have an integrated energy monitor. - Excimer Laser must have a very homogenous beam profile. - Excimer Laser must have slide valves for fast tube window exchange. - Excimer Laser must have offer easy control with a handheld keypad. - Excimer Laser must have a Novatube with ceramic preionization. - Excimer Laser must have superior energy stability. Each potential source shall give a brief description of their product and ability to satisfy the requirements identified above. All responses should include product model number, manufacturer, specifications, delivery timeline, and any applicable warranties. Each potential source, if not the manufacturer, must be an authorized supplier capable of providing and honoring the commercial manufacturer's warranties on the prospective items that meet these requirements. All responses to this sources sought are limited to five pages and must include the following additional information: name and address of firm, commercial activity/government entity (CAGE) code, small or large business size status, point of contact name, title, phone, and email. Interested sources shall submit all replies by email to michael.allen2@wpafb.af.mil no later than 12:00PM EST on Friday, 22 July 2011. Acknowledgement of receipt will not be made. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INTEND TO AWARD A CONTRACT ON THE BASIS OF THIS SOURCES SOUGHT OR TO OTHERWISE PAY FOR THE INFORMATION SOLICITED. This request for information is for planning purposes only and shall not be considered as an Invitation for Bid (IFB), Request for Quotation (RFQ), or Request for Proposal (RFP), or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire any products or services. Your responses to this sources sought will be treated as information only. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of contractor submission of responses to this sources sought or Government use of such information. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or part, any contractor input resulting from this sources sought. The information resulting from this sources sought may be included in one or more RFP's, which may be released via the FEDBIZOPPS.GOV portal.
