Description
THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. No Solicitation is currently available. The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 19, Network Contracting Activity will be issuing a solicitation to award a construction contract to a General Contractor for Project 666-11-101, Replace Boiler Plant project at the Sheridan VAMC, 1898 Fort Road, Sheridan, WY 82801. It is anticipated that the solicitation will be released on/about November 30, 2011. The work includes general construction, structural steel, mechanical and electrical work, utility systems, underground storage tanks, generator and necessary removal of existing structures. The coal-fired boiler plant being replaced has a capacity of greater than 21,000 pounds per hour. At this point in the procurement process, the Department of Veterans Affairs is performing market research to determine contractor socio-economic category, e.g. Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, Veteran Owned Small Business, etc., bonding capacity, and experience in installing coal-fired boilers. Due to the complex nature of the project, relevant coal-fired boiler plant experience (e.g. experience installing coal-fired boilers of similar or larger sizes, or of replacing coal-fired boilers with newer coal-fired boilers of a similar size as the current system, but not experience installing gas boilers or replacing coal-fired boilers with gas boilers) is a critical experiential component of the project. A lack of experience in the specific field of installing coal-fired boilers will result in a contractor being disqualified from consideration as a prime contractor for socioeconomic category determination of this solicitation. Interested firms should send, by e-mail only, the following information: Socio-Economic Category; DUNS number; Maximum bonding capability for a single bid; total maximum bonding capacity; and any relevant coal-fired boiler plant experience as detailed above. Information shall be sent to jason.brown5@va.gov by close of business July 30, 2011. Estimated construction cost is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. Information received will be used in any set aside determination. The NAICS code for this procurement will be 236220.
