- Description
- Combined Synopsis/Solicitation This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This synopsis is to notify contractors that the government intends to issue a Purchase Order in accordance with FAR Part 13 for the following, under simplified acquisition procedures. The Request for Proposal number is FDA-SOL-11-1090230. Provisions and clauses in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 05-45 are incorporated into this request. It is the contractor's responsibility to be familiar with the applicable clauses and provisions. The provisions and clauses may be accessed in full text at www.acquisition.gov/far. The NAICS code is 334517, Irradiation Apparatus Manufacturing. This procurement is being set-aside for small business concerns and all qualified small business vendors are encouraged to respond. Two mammographic x-ray generators are required for the x-ray physics laboratory within the Division of Imaging and Applied Mathematics. One generator will be used to provide mammographic-energy-range spectra for a highly versatile, computer-controlled x-ray imaging system designed to simulate the 3D breast imaging modalities that are beginning to enter the market place. The second generator will be used to power mammographic x-ray tubes for spectroscopic measurements and other mammography-related research projects. The deliverables consist of two mammographic x-ray generators. One will be optimized for high power, the other for low power operation with low high-voltage ripple and optimized tube current stability at very low tube currents (1 mA and below).
