Description
Top 400 pharmaceuticals and medical equipment ordered by Dept. of State Regional Procurement Sattelite Office (RPSO) Germany, fiscal year 2010. PHARMA SUPPORT TO 267 SITES WORLDWIDE (DOS PHARMA) This is a challenge. The Department of State (DOS) has 267 sites worldwide, embassies and consulates, that need pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. We currently spent about $3M each year (see the attached list of the top 400 items) and have been handling our own customs requirements, some of which are onerous. It's time to outsource. The ideal solution would include: • eCommerce • Just-in-time (JIT) ordering/shipping • 24/7 customer support • Data interface with DOS procurement systems (is this even possible?) • Shipment of medically controlled substances, cold-chain, and HAZMAT products • Customs paperwork and approvals • Quality assurance and performance feedback • Flexibility and depth for support of contingencies and special project initiatives Bottom line is that we require industry input on how our posts can obtain drugs and other medical supplies in a fast and efficient manner that is not going to cost a fortune in new infrastructure. The Department of State solicits comments which address industry practices, potential problems, best business practices, pricing strategies, and contract type and line item structure. Please be as specific as possible in suggesting approaches and solutions. Send information by email to: HalprinandreottaC@state.gov; WaltersJM@state.gov; griffith-regalc@state.gov; and WissmanRB@state.gov, not later than Aug 10, 2011. This request is for market research purposes only. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI. Responses to this RFI are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form binding contracts. If any information is proprietary, please mark it as such, but we would like as much information as possible to be usable in a request for proposal to be issued to the public.
