- Description
- The Contractor shall furnish all plant, labor, equipment, and materials to perform all work necessary in strict accordance with the plans and specifications to design, provide and construct a "Barrier Free" Playground. Desired size of the playground area is 100 feet by 50 feet. The playground area is to be enclosed by fencing of a type and design suitable to safely prevent children from leaving the area undetected. The surfacing and site design must provide for access into and throughout the play environment with no barriers or exclusions from activities. All work performed by the contractor shall result in a complete and functional system. All work shall be performed at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. The contractor shall start work after receipt of the Notice to Proceed and complete all work (to include clean up of the premises and final inspection) within 90 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. This is a pre-solicitation notice in accordance with FAR 36.213-2. The description of work includes the following: Install a 4" reinforced concrete slab with a poured-in-place rubberized surface. The site is level; the contractor will be responsible for grading so there is positive drainage away from the playground. Install fencing around the perimeter of the playground to safeguard children. Install child and adult designed benches and shade structures for supervision and comfort. Install a variety of barrier free play activities incorporating a number of forms of play such as physical, social, imaginative, interactive, cooperative and exploratory. Playground to utilize wide sidewalks, accessible routes to travel, double wide ramps with maximum 1 to 12 slope, slide transfers, entry archways, looping opportunities, edge protection, and adequate deck space. The type and style of play activities to be required will be specified in the solicitation. They may include activity panels, game tables, click wheels, maze wheels, echo chambers, talk tubes, train whistles, telescopes, low balance beam with hand rails, see-saws, slides designed with wide slide bed-ways and extended run-outs and adaptive Swing Seats for 2-5 age group and 5-12 age group with solid back, arm and neck support; in-addition to locking mechanism. Ensure that all areas disturbed during construction are repaired to pre-existing or better condition. This procurement is set aside for small business with NAICS code 423910. The magnitude of work for this project is between $250,000.00 and $500,000.00. The Request for Proposals (RFP) solicitation, including the Statement of Work, Drawings etc. will be issued on or about 5 August 2011. The solicitation will contain a Base Line Item and a number of Optional Line Items. The solicitation will include information on the time and location of an organized site visit for this project and the date, time and location for receipt of proposals. In accordance with FAR 5.204 the solicitation package will be posted on www.fbo.gov.
