- NOTICE OF PROJECT SITE VISITAugust 2, 2011 (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) Channel Islands National Park will conduct a site visit for interested contractors on Tuesday, August 2, 2011. National Park Service representatives will accompany one (1) to two (2) individuals per company to the project site at Smugglers Ranch, Santa Cruz Island, Channel Islands National Park. Transportation to the island will be via the park's concession boat operator, Island Packers, located at 1691 Spinnaker Drive, Ventura, California, 93001. Attendees should be at Island Packers at 8:00 a.m. for a departure at 9:00 a.m. sharp. Please check in with the National Park Service representatives when you arrive at Island Packers. Upon arrival at the island (approximately 1 1/4 -hour boat ride), attendees will be shuttled by NPS pick-up trucks from the boat landing site at Scorpion Harbor about 3 miles to Smugglers Ranch for the site visit. Attendees will return to Ventura via the National Park Service boat, and arrive back at about 5:00 p.m. Bring water, lunch, sunscreen, a light jacket, and a hat. It is best to wear clothing in layers as it can be chilly on the boat and on the island. There is no drinking water or food concession at the project site. The building is large and painted gold and green and is located just before the Ventura Yacht Club. Look for signs on the building and at the road. It's always good to call Island Packers the morning of your trip (anytime after 5:00 a.m.) to make sure that the trip hasn't been cancelled due to bad weather. Go south on Victoria about 1/2 mile.Turn right at the light onto Olivas Park Drive and follow it all the way to Ventura Harbor.Cross Harbor Blvd. At the entrance to Ventura Harbor, Olivas Park becomes Spinnaker Drive.
