- ***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 6.302-1 with Kairos Instruments in Pittsburgh, PA for the purchase of Kairos Incubator System with reduced oxygen add on.*** *** NIST has a current requirement for a Kairos Incubator System with reduced oxygen add on. The system offered by Kairos meets all of NIST's minimum requirements and is 100% compatible with NIST's existing Carl Zeiss 200M Microscope. No other vendor offers a system that that will be100% compatible with the existing microscope and can meet the minimum requirements of the Government. Kairos Instruments is the sole manufacturer and distributor of this system. ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 12 weeks after receipt of order.*** ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 employees.*** ***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by August 10, 2011.*** A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
