- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has a requirement for access to the following databases and intends to award a non-competitive Task Order to Porter Novelli Public Services inc., against contract number GS23F0231N. HealthStyles Database The database contains information on health conditions, attitudes, and behaviors. The data are gathered from an internet panel survey of approximately 4,000 adults representative of the American public from the internet panel maintained by the firm Knowledge Networks. The panel is constructed to provide nationally representative samples of the US population. Over representation of Blacks, Hispanics, and Low-income populations is achieved through oversampling these populations. This oversampling is critical to understanding the underserved populations. The database enables health communication specialists in various health related fields to understand audiences using many different analytic plans. This flexibility will allow access to relevant data for developing more effective health communication messages. The database will include current information on risk and prevention associated behaviors across a wide range of issues as well as lifestyle, media habits. A Recontact HealthStyles database will also be available from a recontact HealthStyes survey of the same sample from the consumer mail panel. YouthStyles Database The Youthstyles database is developed in conjunction with the adult Healthstyles database. Parents will be oversampled for the Healthstyles survey and an internet survey of 1,000 youth age 13 - 17 from those households will be conducted by Knowledge Networks. This will provide linked data between parents and their children. The database includes items on values and motivation, health and consumer behaviors, and media use. Consumerstyles Database The Consumerstyles database is a comprehensive look at what the American public is currently purchasing, where they are shopping, their attitudes toward products and services, and how to reach them through the media. This is an internet survey of a nationally representative sample of 7,000 adult respondents conducted by Knowledge Networks. This information can be combined with data in the HealthStyles and YouthStyles surveys for communication planning. The sample size is approximately 7,000 respondents. DocStyles Database The DocStyles database is developed from an internet survey of physicians on the Epocrates Honors panel. The basic sample size is 1,000 primary care providers. It contains information about the communication needs and preferences of physicians and information about physician's perceptions and attitudes concerning communicating with patients. EuroPNStyles Database The EuroPNStyles data base is based on a survey of European adults. This an internet survey of media, health behavior, and lifestyle. The survey is conducted in seven European countries (the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal) in the local language via the Internet using the Synovate Global Opinion Panel. The basic sample is 2,000 completed surveys of adults age 18 and above completed in each of the countries, except for Spain and Portugal with 1,000 respondents each, for a total of approximately 12,000 respondents.
