- The US Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District is seeking small business sources to supply and deliver wire ropes to Ice Harbor Lock and Dam, Walla Walla County, Washington. This will be a firm-fixed-price commercial supply contract. This is not a Request for Quote or a Request for Proposal. This announcement is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, implied or otherwise, to issue a solicitation or award a contract. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this project is 332618 and the associated small business size standard is 500 employees or less. The purpose of this notice is to determine interest and capability of potential qualified 8(a) small businesses, Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZONE) small businesses, woman-owned small business, and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) relative to the NAICS code. Only those firms who respond to this announcement by submitting the following information will be used in determining whether to set aside this requirement: (1) The name of your firm with address, phone, email and point of contact. (2) A statement of your firm's intent to submit a proposal/quote for this project when it is formally advertised. (3) CAGE Code, DUNS number or a copy of your Central Contractor Registration (CCR) information. (4) The category of small business, such as 8(a), HUBZONE, SDVOSB or woman-owned. (5) A Statement of Capability (SOC) providing your firm's skills, experience, knowledge and equipment required to supply and deliver the specified items in the Summary Scope of Work. Please include information regarding similar projects of the same nature that your firm has successfully accomplished. Note: If you do not intend to submit a quote/proposal for this project when it is formally advertised, please do not submit a response to this notice. If inadequate responses are received, this solicitation may be issued for full and open competition. Your response to this notice must be received on or before 3:00PM on July 26, 2011. Summary of Scope of Work: The Contractor shall furnish twenty four new hoist wire ropes for the Ice Harbor downstream lock gate conforming to the applicable requirements of FS RR-W-410, Type 1, Class 2, Construction 4, improved plow steel, IWRC. The diameter of the wire rope will be 2-1/4" with a length of approximately 155 feet each. Twelve left hand and twelve right hand lays will be required. A break test shall be performed on a minimum of 2 samples to demonstrate that the product meets the breaking strength requirement. The Contractor shall supply new wire rope socket fittings. Fittings shall meet FS RR-S-550D. One end of the wire rope shall be terminated with an open socket, Type A, Finish 2, Class 2. The other end of the wire rope shall be terminated with a bridge socket, Type D, Finish 2, Class 2. Twelve open and twelve closed bridge sockets will be required. The rope shall be pre-stretched prior to cutting to length. The final socketed rope assemblies shall be preloaded to 40% of the braking strength. Each rope will be individually spooled and shipped to Ice Harbor Lock and Dam, Burbank, Washington.
