U.S.C. 253 (c)(1). This requirement is to provide, preventat ive and corrective maintenance, as well as replacement parts, and system upgrades to an Affymetrix Gene Chip platform, a t the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Research Center, located in Bethesda, Maryland. This platform is use d by NIH to study gene changes in airway inflammation, pulmo nary hypertension and human heart transplant rejection in pa tients. Affymetrix Inc, is the only known source who can supply dire ct replacement parts for the current Affymetrix Gene Chip In strument. The intended procurement will be classified under North Amer ican Industry Classification System Code 334111, with a size standard of 1000 employees. The requirement is being proces sed in accordance with the simplified acquisition procedures as stated in FAR 13.106-(b)(1). If any small businesses are interested and capable to fulfil l this procurement you are encouraged to submit your capabil ity statement five pages or less. All responsible contractors who meet the capabilities cited to perform the requirement, may submit experience, capabilit ies, and qualifications as outlined above which will be cons idered by the NIH. This notice of intent is not a request f or competitive proposals. However, all information received within the ten (10) days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determinati on by the Government not to compete this proposed contract b ased upon reasons to this notice is solely within the discre tion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purposes of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The proposed award date will be on or before August 23, 2011.
