Description
SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE: The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) National Acquisition Center is seeking potential sources of supply to provide Certified over the counter Fish Oil EPA/DHA >500MG ORAL CAPs supplement in package sizes of 100s. Currently the Federal Supply Schedule Program does not cover any contracts for Certified Fish Oil supplements. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends that patients with documented Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) consume approximately 1 gram of EPA+DHA per day, preferably from oily fish. However, supplements containing EPA+DHA (fish oil supplements) can be considered in consultation with a physician. In patients requiring triglyceride lowering, 2 to 4 grams of EPA+DHA (fish oil supplements) daily can be recommended under a physician ™s care. Product must be certified by a company such as USP (USP Verified), ConsumerLab (CL Approved), NSF International (NSF Mark), Natural Products Association [NPA] (TruLabel) or other which provides a physical inspection of the manufacturing site and assurance that the product was properly manufactured, that it contains the ingredients listed on the label in the stated amounts and that it does not contain harmful contaminants. Certification must be maintained throughout the contract period. Interested sources are asked to provide information whether the potential source is a manufacturer, distributor or repackager, business size, product country of origin, and estimated monthly sales. Additionally, interested sources are asked to indicate whether the product is third party recommended ie (American Heart Association (AHA)). Please address your responses and the requested information to Marie Harvey at Marie.harvey@va.gov no later than August 12, 2011 and include company name, address, website, if any, point of contact, including phone number and e-mail address.
