- Description
- This task order is a direct result from the extension to Contract NND06AB40B foron-site support services for the NASA/DFRC Safety, Health and Environmental Services. This task order was awarded on a sole source basis pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), Onlyone responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agencyrequirements. The period of performance is for two (2) months, August 1, 2011 throughSeptember 30, 2011. This extension is required to allow NASA/DFRC time to complete thesource selection process for the follow-on contract solicited under NASA SolicitationNND10348201R issued on December 10, 2010. This extension will allow NASA/DFRC tomaintain and obtain continuity of critical safety, health and environmental supportservices. It would be cost ineffective to issue a new contract for two (2) months toanother source to perform these services while NASA/DFRC is in the process of completingsource selection for the follow-on contract. Awarding a 2-month contract to anothersource at the same time the recompete is in process would result in substantialduplication of cost to the Government that is not expected to be recovered throughcompetition of the extension. NASA Procurement Information Circular (PIC) 00-22 providesa class deviation from the requirements of FAR 17.204(e) and NFS 1817.204(e)(3). Thisclass deviation applies only to existing contracts in which unusual circumstances delaythe award of a follow-on contract.
